About

1. I edit. A lot. I do proof my blog entries, but I almost inevitably change things once they are posted. I am much more likely to change my spelling than change my thoughts, but still: what you get on an RSS feed may not be the final product.

2. You may have read me in a previous incarnation. From 2001 - 2005, I maintained a very pink website at DarlingBri.co.uk with a popular online journal and a travel blog. After a two year hiatus (don’t ask), I restarted blogging here.

3. I flew 3,000 miles to get married barefoot, with blue toes, to a man wearing Docs, in a wedding dress made from a 1950s bedspread so we could get hitched somewhere gay marriage is legal. There were cupcakes. It rocked.

4. I was born and raised in NYC. Whatever concept of myself as a New Yorker I remained attached to faded in spectacular fashion on September 11th. My city had a pivotal experience I wasn’t there for, and feels very different. Now I just say I grew up there.

5. I am the entire universe for a very seriously abused boxer I adopted from the Cork Animal shelter. My husband has learned not to leave me home alone for three entire weeks straight ever again. The dog has learned she can have anything if she just looks sad.

6. I lived in London for about seven years. Five of them were in way, way east London. My mother referred to this phase of my life as an anthropological experiment. We left London when they decided to build the Olympics at the end of our rather short street.
